Aperture Controls

Questions: Aperture Controls                                                                   Mitchel Drake

1. What type of aperture setting (f number) is needed for a large group shot where people are
near to the camera and far? - You should use a F/11 and have a smaller aperture.

2. What type of setting would be used if you want to focus in on one single person and the rest
of the picture can be out of focus? - wider aperture, F/4 and Depth of field would be used. -

3. If you set your camera to Aperture Priority what does your camera automatically calculate
and set for you ? - You chose the F stop and the camera automatically sets the shutter speed to keep the exposer pace with whatever F stop you have chosen.

4. Why do aperture setting jump up numbers (Ex: F1.4, f2, f2.8, f4) instead of going up in a
logical way (ex: f1, f2, f3 ect..) ? - The bigger the opening, meaning lots of light coming in, the higher the number, Your hole lens is quite small.

5. How much more light enters the camera when you go from a setting of f16 to f11?
- you actually double the light coming into the aperture.

6. In Aperture Priority mode if you change from a setting of f8 to f11 will you shutter speed get
longer or shorter? - Your shutter speed will get longer, this is because the hole is smaller and less light gets into it, taking longer to take the picture.
